The Great Pittsburgh Cleanup

A few weeks ago, I mentioned the Pittsburgh beautification project, as the city prepares to host the 2026 NFL Draft. Now there’s an update. They’ve cleaned up over 400 tons of trash, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

“Since its initial launch in September, the Immaculate Collection cleanup program has picked up more than 400 tons of litter and cleaned 50 state highway miles to help beautify the region ahead of the NFL Draft,” P-G’s Hallie Lauer wrote.

Pittsburgh has already closed public schools during the draft, and they’ve already cleaned up about three or four times the weight of a large adult blue whale in trash. Yeah, they seem to be taking the opportunity to host the draft quite seriously.

Steelers Support BVB

The Steelers began their partnership with German soccer club Dortmund BVB a year ago. On Saturday, a couple of Steelers ventured there in person to watch the action. German-born OLB Julius Welschof was there, along with Steelers long snapper Christian Kuntz.

It’s only a matter of time before the Steelers play their first game in Germany, one of the countries in the NFL’s Global Markets Program.

Big Citrus Cleared

Iowa State DT Domonique Orange, nicknamed “Big Citrus” for obvious reasons, injured his quad early in the pre-draft process. It sounds like he is now cleared and plans to work out for NFL teams at his pro day on April 7, per Tom Pelissero. The 6-4, 325-pound DT is expected to test off the charts. He could be an intriguing prospect for the Steelers if they want to add to the position on Day 2.

Former Iowa State DT Domonique Orange, who suffered a quad strain early in the pre-draft training process, will work out for NFL scouts April 7 on campus.

“Big Citrus” is 6-4, 325 and was a mainstay on @BruceFeldmanCFB’s Freaks List. He’ll test at 100%.
