The Cleveland Browns plan to target a wide receiver this upcoming NFL Draft, which means they could entertain sending Jerry Jeudy in a trade for the right price. While quarterback Shedeur Sanders plans to have competition for the starting job against veteran Deshaun Watson, the same shuffle is probably going to happen in the receiver position. It looks like it will be Jeudy, Cedric Tillman and Isaiah Bond as the three frontrunners, but since the Browns are confirmed to be looking at the WR position in the first round, this could pose a danger to Jeudy. The former first-round pick is coming off his worst season as a receiver last year since his sophomore campaign with the Broncos, recording just 50 receptions for 602 receiving yards.
The veteran is still under a three-year extension for $58 million, which keeps him locked in with the Browns through the 2027 regular season. However, that could obviously change during night 1 of the NFL Draft, and the Browns could get some extra draft capital to rebuild a new offense for Sanders or Watson. Jeudy is one year removed from a Pro Bowl season, setting the Browns’ receptions record (90) in 2024. The wideout still has a lot left to give for a football team that needs a stable WR1, but he no longer fits into what the Browns are doing.
Browns Likely to Trade Former Pro Bowler Jerry Jeudy During 2026 NFL Draft
After letting David Njoku hit the market and hiring head coach Todd Monken, there were expected to be changes. Now, Jeudy should be under a microscope along with other possible receivers that could become available in this year’s draft. The receiver hasn’t been able to find a stable long-term home in his previous tenure in Denver, but could finally find that with these teams.
Possible Next Fits
Carolina Panthers
With the Panthers finding their long-term WR in Tetairoa McMillan, it’s time for Carolina to find themselves another complementary offensive weapon to help him. Jalen Coker is solid, but he’s more versatile in a slot role and can slow down as a WR3 in slant route situations. However, Xavier Legette hasn’t gained much progress in the past two seasons with the Panthers despite the success that the offense has been seeing.
After seeing Jaelan Phillips join this defensive team through free agency on a monster contract, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Jeudy views the Panthers as a fresh start, too.
Chicago Bears
Meanwhile, the Bears will need a replacement at the WR position after trading DJ Moore to Buffalo. While they have Luther Burden and Rome Odunze as the main contributors in their unit, they must get themselves a new playmaker. Moore didn’t fit into the new era of Caleb Williams as far as cap space and scheme. With Jeudy possibly stepping in, Williams and Jeudy could develop one of the most dangerous duos in the NFC.
Atlanta Falcons
New head coach Kevin Stefanski left Cleveland for the Falcons, but could trade for Jeudy to follow him. The Falcons let Darnell Mooney hit the market while making up for it by signing Jahan Dotson and Olamide Zaccheaus. However, none of the new receivers are flashy enough to be a WR2. Drake London can’t afford to lift the weight of the team again in the aerial attack, so Jeudy getting mixed might be a smart move.
