Seattle Seahawks general manager John Schneider and his team clearly ate their Wheaties on Monday morning, as they have been busy keeping their wide receiver room in tact. First up was giving Jaxon Smith-Njigba a historic $168.6 million dollar extension, which will keep him in the Pacific Northwest through the 2031 season. But JSN wasn’t the only one to get new money from the Seahawks to start the week.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero broke the news that Seattle has matched the offer sheet presented to Jake Bobo from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Bobo will remain in the Pacific Northwest on a two-year deal worth $5.5 million dollars, with $4.5 million of it fully guaranteed.

The Jaguars tried their best to snatch Bobo away from Seattle by signing Bobo to an offer sheet. They were able to do this since Bobo was a restricted free agent, meaning the Seahawks had an opportunity to match Jacksonville’s offer in order to retain him. Had they declined to do so, then Bobo would have been headed to Duval County to play for the reigning AFC South champions. Initially at Seahawks Wire, we believed the Jaguars’ offer would have been too much for Seattle to match given their financial obligations elsewhere. Turns out Schneider knows more than us… who could have guessed!?

Bobo’s new deal is further allocation of resources the Seahawks are investing in their wide receiver position group. Rashid Shaheed will carry a salary cap hit of $7 million in 2026, and Cooper Kupp will count for $17 million. JSN carries $10 million as well. Already that’s $34 million spread across three players just for 2026 alone.
