TUSCALOOSA, ALa. – Former Alabama quarterback was the story of the day at Alabama’s Pro Day on Wednesday, captivating the eyes of the NFL world during his throwing session. Simpson only threw on Wednesday, mirroring his performance at the NFL combine in February, where he was the top quarterback of the day.

“It was great. I really enjoyed it. It was the last time getting to throw here in Tuscaloosa, especially with my guys, Josh [Cuevas], Germ [Bernard], Ryan [Coleman-Williams], Rico [Scott]. Met a new friend, Noah Rogers, who is gonna be a great player,” Simpson said after Pro Day. “It was awesome. I really enjoyed it. This place means a lot to me. Those guys mean a lot to me. Being able to throw – I remember watching Bryce [Young] and Will [Anderson] in here when I was a freshman. Being here is super surreal and super great, so I appreciate all the things those guys have done for me.”

Â
Simpson met with the New York Jets briefly on the field during his Pro Day, including the Jets’ Director of College Scouting, Jason Mandolesi, before beginning his throwing session on Wednesday.

Â
The Jets and Simpson will continue their meetings later this week, as Field Yates, who was at Alabama’s Pro Day for ESPN, reported that Simpson will hold a private workout for the Jets this coming Friday, March 27. The Jets hold the No. 2 and No. 16 picks in April’s NFL draft.
Â
As Alabama’s signal caller last season, Ty Simpson completed 64.5% of his passes for 3,567 yards and 28 touchdowns to five interceptions. His top performance with the Crimson Tide came in week three in a 38-14 victory over the Wisconsin Badgers, throwing for 382 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.
Â
Simpson is largely viewed as the consensus QB2 in this year’s NFL draft behind Indiana’s Fernando Mendoza, who was the Heisman Trophy winner last season. Simpson’s draft range is expected to be mid-to-late first round, and he has already met with the Cleveland Browns, who hold the No. 6 and No. 24 picks in the first round.
Â
The NFL draft will be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, from April 23-25. Simpson has been invited to the draft, but has not yet accepted.
