However, the way the Packers have handled their pre-draft visits has changed over the years, especially recently. Under Ted Thompson, the Packers used their pre-draft visits more or less as recruiting trips for undrafted free agents. That is to say, most of the time, the Packers were spending their visits on guys that were not likely to be drafted.
That’s been increasingly not the case under Brian Gutekunst, especially last year, when the Packers spent by far the highest percentage of their visits that we’ve ever seen on top-100 players.
Obviously we can’t know how that will play out this year until the picks come in, but it’s easy to guess that we’ll see another shift in the way the Packers use their visits this year and next for one big reason: the Packers have no first round pick in 2026 or 2027. They’re probably not going to be spending many, if any, visits on players near the top of the draft board.
