Caleb Downs is a top possibility for the Cincinnati Bengals at 10th overall in the upcoming NFL draft.

Somewhat understandably, then, Downs turned some heads at Ohio State’s pro day this week when asked if he’s met with the Bengals and quickly dished a no comment on the topic.

But as it turns out, it’s not all that unusual for Downs to do this on the topic. Whether it’s agent advice or something else, he doesn’t usually seem to be giving out any information about his interactions with teams.

Here’s Downs’ brief interaction with WLWT’s Jaron May:

Fair enough. It wasn’t uncommon to see onlookers on social media suggest that Downs’ reaction might hint the Bengals are indeed targeting him.

After all, they met with him at the combine. He even has a family member hoping the Bengals draft him.

Realistically, though, it doesn’t matter what Downs says on the topic. It’s all speculation. Common sense says the Bengals have him pretty high on the draft board and will consider him if he makes it to the 10th pick. They need safety help, even after signing Bryan Cook in free agency, and still need a starter in the slot, too, which he can likely do.
