The Raiders GM also spoke candidly on the Maxx Crosby trade for the first time. The Raiders agreed upon a trade to send the Pro Bowl edge rusher to the Baltimore Ravens for draft compensation, but the Ravens ultimately backed out the agreement before the start of the new league year.
While the organization declined to go into detail during the height of the speculation, Spytek acknowledged that the situation required difficult conversations behind the scenes.
“My relationship with Maxx since I’ve gotten here has been great,” Spytek said. “We had a lot of conversations throughout the season, at the end of the season obviously, through the offseason and obviously we were presented with a difficult decision to make. Things have a way of going a certain way and working out the way they’re supposed to. We welcomed him like he never left, because he really never did.”
