With the Green Bay Packers needing reinforcements in the pass-rushing group, the team could trade for Kayvon Thibodeaux before the 2026 season. Bleacher Report predicts the Giants could trade Thibodeaux, who has been in several trade rumors already for the past year. The former first-round pick in the 2022 Draft is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The team moving him makes sense since the Giants don’t have much of a role for him.

Thibodeaux tried to establish himself as the starter for this edge-rusher group that is becoming overcrowded between Abdul Carter and Brian Burns. After signing Tremaine Edmunds in free agency, this could only mean that the Giants are prepared to trade Thibodeaux.

Giants, Packers Connected in Kayvon Thibodeaux Trade Rumor

Multiple sources predicted the Giants would trade the pass-rusher for at least a Day 2 pick, so it shouldn’t be surprising if he’s moved during this year’s draft. Meanwhile, Green Bay is in dire need of a new edge rusher. Despite trading for Micah Parsons last offseason to strengthen the defense, the team lost Rashan Gary to the Cowboys while losing Kingsley Enagbare to the Jets. While Parsons will return, the Packers need an answer now at the pass-rushing position.

Thibodeaux could pair with Parsons to create one of the most dangerous pass-rushing duos in the league. If the two can stay healthy, this defense should be back to its old ways. Unfortunately for Green Bay, the team will likely be competing against other teams for the pass-rusher. If Green Bay wants Thibodeaux, the Packers should act quickly before these three other teams target him.

Other Possible Suitors
Los Angeles Chargers

Despite the Chargers re-signing Khalil Mack for another one-year deal, the team needs to start thinking about life after him. The team can’t afford to sign low-risk free agents like Dalvin Tomlinson. It’s time for this team to truly embrace the trenches philosophy that head coach Jim Harbaugh promised. Even though Jesse Minter is gone, the Chargers must continue stacking on talent in the pass-rushing group.

Daiyan Henley, Denzel Perryman and Tuli Tuipulotu are all solid, but nothing on the level that Thibodeaux could bring. The Chargers need some stardom if they want to advance to at least the AFC Championship Game. By trading for Thibodeaux, the team could start its journey there.

Kansas City Chiefs

Meanwhile, the Chiefs didn’t have the financial means to re-sign Leo Chenal, who left for the Washington Commanders on a long-term deal. While the team retained Drue Tranquill and Nick Bolton, the Chiefs have a void in their pass-rushing group. Jack Cochrane and Cole Christiansen could emerge as potential replacements, but Thibodeaux is the obvious upgrade. Since the Chiefs don’t have the money to afford the top pass-rusher, they could at least afford to get Thibodeaux for a season via a trade.

New England Patriots

After signing Romeo Doubs and probably going to get AJ Brown, head coach Mike Vrabel continues to be aggressive. The team signed Dre’Mont Jones to overhaul this pass-rushing group that already has Harold Landry and Robert Spillane. If the rumors are true and they’re looking to cut Landry, the team could trade for Thibodeaux as the immediate replacement.
