The Ravens have a league-high over/under win total this year, but the Steelers will be the next AFC North team to win a Super Bowl, Ben Roethlisberger says. Now, that’s probably not happening in 2026, but apparently, nobody else in the division will win, either. Cleveland certainly won’t, but what about the Ravens? James Harrison posed this question to him on the Deebo and Joe podcast.

“It depends on who’s playing quarterback for the Steelers, but I would still lean towards [them]”, Roethlisberger said. “Honestly, I probably would have said Baltimore because of what they have going on there with Lamar [Jackson] and that. But here’s what I’m gonna say. I think that their window’s closed. I should say it’s closing”.

The Ravens have had Lamar Jackson for nearly a decade, reaching the conference final only once. They have never won more than one playoff game in a single season. Since drafting Jackson in 2018, they are 3-5 in the playoffs, their most recent win being over the Steelers in 2024.

“Obviously, Cleveland, you don’t even have to ask that one. And Cincinnati, obviously, I like what Joe [Burrow] does, their offense is really good, but they don’t care about their defense, and they don’t care about anything there”, Roethlisberger added. But he was reluctant to say the Steelers would be the next AFC North team to win the Super Bowl because he would be accused of being a homer.

“I would say Pittsburgh even breaking it all down. It’s a long-winded answer to say Pittsburgh”.

Only two teams—the Steelers and the Ravens—have won the Super Bowl in the AFC North. The Browns have never been to a Super Bowl in the Super Bowl’s existence. The Bengals have been to a few, though only once since the AFC North’s formation. They nearly won it in 2021, coming up a Matthew Stafford game-winning drive short.

The Ravens have won two Super Bowls, though only once in the AFC North era, while the Steelers have won six, two in the AFC North era. Pittsburgh’s most recent Super Bowl wins came in 2005 and 2008, respectively. The team’s last appearance in the big game was a 2010 loss. Two years after that, the Ravens won their second and most recent Super Bowl, following their 2000 win.

Since then, however, the AFC North has collectively reached one Super Bowl and four conference finals. The Bengals have the most recent Super Bowl appearance in 2021, and also reached the finals in 2022. The Ravens reached the finals in 2023. The Steelers’ last finals appearance was in 2016, while the Browns have never reached the conference finals in the AFC North’s history. Let’s all now take a moment to laugh at the Browns, whose last conference finals game was in 1989. Haha. Dummies.
