The Green Bay Packers extended the contract of head coach Matt LaFleur in January, and Packers quarterback Jordan Love recently gave his thoughts about it.

“Being able to keep Matt around is awesome, and I’m very happy about that,” Love told WFRV. “It’s a lot to learn a whole new system and new terminology. As a quarterback, being in the same system, the same terminology, it definitely helps me out.”

Coming into his seventh NFL season, Love is very appreciative of having the same head coach. The only other QB to have a longer tenure with one head coach is Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, with Andy Reid in Kansas City.

Having that stability for any young quarterback is very beneficial. LaFleur is known as a players’ head coach and has learned to adapt to the role coaches must play in today’s NFL.

There were rumors at the end of last season that the Packers could go in another direction and part ways with LaFleur, but ultimately the team decided he is the right man for the future of the franchise.
