The New England Patriots were the talk of the town last season, bouncing back from just four wins in 2024 to make an impressive run to the Super Bowl a season later.

Even though New England fell to the Seattle Seahawks in the big game, it was great to see the Patriots return to playing competitive football. However, could last season have been more of a fluke than reality?
Saad Yousuf of The Athletic recently shared his top five super contenders ahead of the upcoming NFL draft, and, interestingly, he did not include New England on his list.
Yousuf ranked the top five teams as follows: No. 1, the San Francisco 49ers; No. 2, the Los Angeles Rams; No. 3, the Denver Broncos; No. 4, the Kansas City Chiefs and No. 5, the Buffalo Bills.

It was quite surprising to see New England left off the list while the Chiefs made the cut. Kansas City’s quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, is coming back from a torn ACL he suffered late last season, which could keep him sidelined for a few games this year.
Kansas City has little chance of reaching the Super Bowl if Mahomes isn’t ready to play in the early part of the season. Right now, the Patriots seem to have a better shot at winning it all than the Chiefs do.
