Miller actually wasn’t that far from earning the starting job last season, but Lloyd ultimately kept his spot. Now, the former is the early leader in the clubhouse to start in 2026, though competition will eventually be added in some form.
Jacksonville has +190 odds to win the division as of today, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. A splashy addition to the linebacker room could change that — yet it’d be nice to see Miller at least carve out a part-time role, if not become a full-time player. He played just 20% of defensive snaps last season after joining the defense on 46% of plays as a rookie.
When he has seen the field, Miller has stood out on special teams, but his work on defense has been up and down. The former six-year Gator has a capped ceiling due to his lack of size and unspectacular athleticism; it was always going to be interesting to see how much defensive coordinator and linebacker specialist Anthony Campanile could get out of him. Now that Lloyd is out of the spotlight, the pressure is on Miller that more more.
