The Dallas Cowboys have not had the kind of offseason fans were expecting to see from them.

After team owner Jerry Jones hinted at spending big money in pursuit of Super Bowl contention, the Cowboys have focused more on adding quality players rather than stars. They have brought in pass rusher Rashan Gary, safety Jalen Thompson, and cornerback Cobie Durant as three of their biggest pickups.

Dallas still has time to make more moves. There is still a need for more pass rushing.

Gary was a solid addition for the Cowboys, especially only having to give up a 2027 fourth-round pick. However, he has had consistency issues throughout his career.

One potential option would be to simply re-sign 2025 starter Jadeveon Clowney. If Dallas is going to do that, Jones and the front office will need to get busy quickly as he has become a popular name in the NFL rumor mill.

Cowboys Could Lose Jadeveon Clowney to NFC Contender

Clowney could be a potential fit for quite a few teams around the league. There are a handful of contenders who still need pass rushing help.

With that in mind, Zachary Pereles of CBS Sports has suggested the Chicago Bears as a potential fit for the former No. 1 overall pick.

“It’s a good year to need pass rush help, and that’s something the Bears very much need,” Pereles wrote. “Clowney played at a high level pretty much everywhere, and he would add some pass-rush pop while playing on early downs, too.”

Plenty of Cowboys fans would be disappointed and frustrated if the team doesn’t re-sign Clowney. They still need pass rushing help and Clowney played at a high level last season.

Clowney Proved He Has Plenty Left Last Season in Dallas

After being signed shortly following the beginning of the 2025 campaign to help replace Micah Parsons, Clowney performed well.

He ended up playing in 13 games for Dallas, racking up 41 total tackles to go along with 8.5 sacks, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and four defended passes. Those numbers show why the Cowboys should consider re-signing him and why a team like the Bears could have interest.

Clowney has never quite become the player he was expected to be when he was drafted No. 1 overall by the Houston Texans back in the 2014 NFL Draft. He has been a quality pass rusher throughout his career, but never a superstar.

In 153 career games played, Clowney has totaled 450 tackles, 66.5 sacks, 16 forced fumbles, 11 fumble recoveries, an interception, a defensive touchdown, and 36 defended passes. Fans continue to wait to find out where the next chapter of his career will be played.
