A recent Bleacher Report breakdown of the best remaining free agents at each position highlighted two names that should be on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ radar before the 2026 NFL Draft: David Njoku and Joey Bosa.

Both address areas the Bucs already know they need to improve.

At tight end, Njoku stands out simply because of what he has already proven when healthy. He has over 4,000 career receiving yards, a Pro Bowl season, and the ability to function as a real middle-of-the-field and red zone threat. The issue has been availability. Injuries have limited him over the past two seasons, including a down 2025 where his production dipped significantly.

That said, the upside remains, and Tampa Bay desperately needs a game-changing player at that position. The Bucs’ current tight end room is steady but lacks a player who can consistently tilt coverage. Njoku changes that when he is on the field, and at this point in free agency, he likely comes at a price that reflects his risk.

On the edge, Bosa represents a different kind of gamble. He is not the same player he was early in his career, but he still showed flashes in 2025, recording five sacks in a rotational role. Over 600 snaps last season were his most on the field in a single season since 2021. The days of expecting double-digit sacks may be over, but as a situational pass rusher, he can still affect games.

Timing matters for Tampa Bay. Adding veterans like these before the draft would not eliminate the need to address edge or tight end, but it would give the roster more flexibility and prevent the team from forcing a pick based strictly on need.

The goal is not to chase names. It is to add players who can still impact the game in defined roles, and both Njoku and Bosa fit that description if used effectively.
