NFL Trade Rumors: Dallas Cowboys’ bold strategy shifts with lighter offer while Maxx Crosby chase continues to heat upMaxx Crosby trade rumors (Getty Images) The trade chatter around Maxx Crosby refuses to cool, and the Dallas Cowboys keep surfacing at the center of it. Las Vegas has publicly insisted it will move forward with Crosby in 2026 after a collapsed deal with the Baltimore Ravens, but that stance has not convinced many across the league. With the draft approaching, Dallas remains a logical and persistent suitor, especially after an offseason that promised defensive upgrades but has yet to deliver a true game-changing star.

Cowboys remain firmly in the Crosby conversation

There is a reason Crosby’s name keeps circling back to Dallas. The Cowboys addressed parts of their defense, including adding Rashan Gary, but they still lack the kind of edge presence that shifts game plans. Crosby fits that mold. His production speaks for itself, with 69.5 career sacks, consistent Pro Bowl recognition, and a reputation for relentless pressure that offenses struggle to contain.Still, there are complications. Crosby underwent meniscus surgery after the season, and that played a role in Baltimore backing out of a previously agreed trade. Health will remain a key factor in any serious negotiations. Even so, league insiders continue to believe the Raiders’ public confidence may not fully reflect their private stance. The timing of the draft only adds fuel, as teams reassess value and urgency.

Reduced price could open a real path

Veteran Cowboys reporter Jon Machota believes the situation may be tilting in Dallas’ favor, particularly if the price drops. Speaking on the “One-Star Podcast,” he pointed to a scenario where the Cowboys could strike a deal built around the No. 20 pick rather than parting with premium assets.“Them trading for Maxx Crosby, I would not completely rule that out at all. It all comes down to what they think of him, medically, but I would not—especially now that the price has to have come down. And it makes no sense for the Raiders to publicly say everything that they have said, that they’re fine and everything’s great and they’re going to keep Maxx. I just don’t see a world where Maxx Crosby is on the Las Vegas Raiders in 2026.“Because of that, the only other team that’s come out with an actual offer that has been reported is the Dallas Cowboys. If now all the sudden they can get him at a reduced price for 20, pick 20 overall? I don’t think you can completely rule that out, with another late-round pick thrown in there.”Dallas has drawn a firm line at including both of its top picks, and that has not changed. A package centered on No. 20, possibly with mid or late-round additions, feels more realistic now. For Jerry Jones, the appeal goes beyond the field. A move like this would shift attention away from contract tensions surrounding George Pickens and place the spotlight back on a defense trying to reassert itself. The door is not wide open yet, but it is far from closed. And in Dallas, that is often enough to keep the story alive.
