With the New York Giants bringing in new head coach John Harbaugh, there is now a ticking clock on this team to start winning. With the Baltimore Ravens, Harbaugh saw a lot of success, even winning a Super Bowl with the organization.
But now in the bright lights of New York, there is a lot of pressure on Harbaugh to win right away. While most people aren’t expecting the Giants to be Super Bowl contenders in 2026, the postseason could very well be in play for this team.
New York has a nice, young quarterback to work around in Jaxson Dart, giving Harbaugh a reliable player under center in his first year with the team. Dart showed some flashes of why he was a first-round pick in his rookie year, and he should only get better from here.
But heading into 2026, the Giants will need to add more defensive help to the mix. Having a strong defense can really help a young quarterback out, and Harbaugh has built his career on having top units.
This could see the Giants’ front office look to make another move this offseason, maybe even via a trade. New York could use some help in the secondary, and it may serve them better to get a veteran, rather than just drafting someone in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft.

TWSN Quick Facts:
Giants Could Target Marlon Humphrey
One name that the Giants could look to target in a trade is veteran cornerback Marlon Humphrey of the Ravens. Baltimore could be cleaning house a little under new head coach Jess Minter, and Harbaugh may look to poach some of his former players.
The Ravens may want to get younger on the defense, which could see Humphrey get moved this offseason. Due to the familiarity with Harbaugh, this could be an easy transition to the Giants for Humphrey, and the defense would get much better.
New York could use another player for the secondary, and Humphrey is an experienced player in the NFL. Placing him into the Giants’ defensive unit would give more veteran leadership to the group, while proving New York with a proven turnover machine.
Humphrey has 23 interceptions in his career, and this could really make a difference for the defense in 2026. Consistency has been the problem for Humphrey but a change of scenery could help him.
But the one big knock on Humphrey is that he gave up the most yards in the NFL last season (831), which could impact trade value, and the Giants could be wary of this. New York could try to buy-low on the veteran and hope that he can bounce back into form on a new team.
The other issue with a trade of Humphrey is his contract, so the two teams would need to get creative in making something work. But overall, the Giants could benefit from having the veteran on the roster next season, and he could help give the voice of Harbaugh some legitimacy in the locker room.
Marlon Humphrey’s Contract
Humphrey only has one year left on his current contract, and he is scheduled to make $26.2 million this season. Even with this high amount, New York wouldn’t be on the hook past the 2026 season for any money to the cornerback.
Marlon Humphrey’s 2025 Stats
Humphrey played in 15 games for the Ravens this past season, putting up four interceptions, two forced fumbles, one sack and put up a combined 68 total tackles. Even with his play declining last year, Humphrey still put together a solid-enough 2025 season for Baltimore.
