It’s no secret that ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. thought very highly of Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders in last year’s draft cycle. He was furious on air as Sanders fell to the fifth round because of how talented he believes the young quarterback is and who he believes he can become in the NFL.

Kiper was back on the praise train on a recent episode of First Draft as he and Field Yates were discussing Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson. They were talking about teams that need to do their homework on Simpson, and when Yates mentioned the Browns, Kiper had this to say.

“The Browns don’t have to worry about Ty Simpson. They got a better QB than Ty Simpson in Shedeur Sanders. Don’t go there.”

Although I am not as high on Sanders as Kiper, I tend to agree in a sense, I would rather build around Sanders and give him a chance to prove himself than use a high pick on Simpson, who lacks any elite traits that make him a better prospect than Sanders.
