Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …

2026 NFL free agency class rankings: Most improved rosters – ESPN
11) Philadelphia Eagles. I loved: How general manager Howie Roseman walked the line of an A.J. Brown trade. He kept his asking price high and kept the cap open by delaying Goedert’s void date, which centralized Brown in the WR trade market. Although no deal got done, the Broncos-Dolphins Jaylen Waddle trade certainly strengthened the Eagles’ case for getting a first-round pick for Brown (who is only a year older than Waddle). We’ll wait to see which teams remain in need of a star receiver after June 1, when the cap hit of a Brown trade becomes far more palatable. The hay isn’t in the barn yet — the Eagles still need a dance partner come June. But Roseman is playing this well.

5 pressing questions for Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie: Tush push, Jalen Hurts contract and more – The Athletic
But the Eagles’ accounting strategy is not like that of the Dolphins — a team bound for a rebuild with a league-leading $179.2 million in dead money after blowing up its roster. Roseman signed Brown to a three-year, $96 million extension in 2024 with the intention of solidifying a Super Bowl-caliber roster and elongating the franchise’s golden era. The Eagles would have to absorb a $43.4 million dead money hit if they trade Brown before June 1, according to Over the Cap. The dead money hit reduces to $16.3 million if the Eagles trade Brown after June 1, and they’d have the added benefit of receiving $7 million in cap savings for the 2026 season. June 1, therefore, serves as an unofficial departure date for a wide receiver who was not happy playing for the Eagles. Will Roseman confirm that is the case? Or is there still a pathway for Brown to remain in Philadelphia? There are multiple ways to interpret Roseman’s wide receiver additions of Hollywood Brown and Elijah Moore in free agency — especially Moore, Brown’s teammate and roommate at Ole Miss. Are the Eagles building a wide receiver room that would further support Brown? Or are they preparing for his exit?

Jeff Stoutland addresses his Eagles departure for 1st time – NBCSP
On a recent appearance on the Fitz & Whit podcast, Johnson called Stoutland’s departure “unexpected” but said he thinks Stoutland will be around “in some capacity” this season. Stoutland was asked about that on The SZN podcast. “I have no idea,” Stoutland said. “I haven’t had a conversation with anybody about anything like that. I don’t know. But Lane and I, we came in together in ’13. That was the Chip Kelly first year. I always think we felt like we’d end up leaving together as well. I don’t know. There was almost a silent agreement kind of but that didn’t happen unfortunately.”

In all, the 27-year old has played in 50 total career games since entering the NFL and even has a start in the NFC Championship Game to his name. Awosika is a feel-good success story as a former undrafted free agent out of Buffalo who signed with the Eagles after going undrafted in 2021.

Cowboys add 2 dynamic defenders in new mock draft – Blogging The Boys
Just a month stands between the Dallas Cowboys and the start of the 2026 NFL Draft. Dallas has no room for error, and they need to walk away with multiple quality prospects if they want to be a true contender in the fall. While the Cowboys do have two first-round picks, it’s no guarantee they will land one of the top defensive prospects in the class. Most recent mock drafts have had as many as nine defenders off the board before the Cowboys get on the clock at pick 12. Dallas’s best-case scenario is that two or more of the teams above them decide to prioritize offense over defense, leading a talented defensive player to slide to them at number 12. In a recent mock draft, Bucky Brooks of NFL.com explored this exact scenario, and it led to the Cowboys walking away with one of the steals of the draft. Brooks had the Browns, Saints, and Chiefs all selecting offensive players, leading the talented Miami edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. to fall to the Cowboys at pick 12. Here is what Brooks had to say about why Bain could be a great fit in Dallas.

Commanders fans excited about Odafe Oweh, Leo Chenal & Chig Okonkwo, but still nervous about 2 positions ahead of NFL Draft – Hogs Haven
The hole at wide receiver — the need that was identified by the most respondents — is obvious. The Commanders need a versatile playmaker to line up opposite Terry McLaurin — ideally a player with both size and speed who is young enough to develop and ‘replace’ McLaurin’s ability and leadership when time inevitably takes Scary Terry off the roster. I suspect every regular reader of Hogs Haven is well aware of the complex circumstances that surround the situation with 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk. Whether the Commanders eventually sign Aiyuk or not, they likely need to grab a talented receiver in the draft, with the player most often discussed as a 1st round possibility being Ohio State receiver Carnell Tate.

Survey results: No surprise in the Giants’ draft need, according to fans – Big Blue View
The Giants were able to manufacture offense thanks to Jaxson Dart, Wan’Dale Robinson, Tyrone Tracy, and Devin Singletary. The media-wide concern over Jaxson Dart’s perceived recklessness that bordered on a moral panic, seems to have been replaced with a general insouciance. It’s deeply interesting that it’s just assumed the offense will be fine. The answer seems to be “because Jaxson Dart.” It’s true that teams often look to franchise quarterbacks to cover warts on their offense and allow them to invest elsewhere. And I do think it says something that fans and the media alike already expect Jaxson Dart to elevate everyone around him despite the fact that the only skill position player drafted before the 4th round is recovering from ACL and meniscus surgery. That’s the kind of faith engendered by the likes of Pat Mahomes, Josh Allen, or Matthew Stafford.

Caleb Williams tried to trademark his nickname, and an NBA legend isn’t happy – SB Nation
The ascent of Caleb Williams in his second NFL season was dramatic. It was a rocky beginning, working with new head coach Ben Johnson for the first time, but by the midpoint of the season the two had managed to marry Johnson’s exacting passing demands with Williams’ creativity, giving Chicago something truly special. One way this manifested throughout 2025 was Williams’ incredible ability in the clutch, leading the Bears’ to six fourth-quarter comebacks and six game-winning drives. He started to get the nickname “Iceman” as a result, referring to his cold nature with the game on the line. One problem: The original “Iceman” in sports isn’t happy. [BLG Note: Caleb is lame.]
