One of the most notable points of emphasis heading into this 2026 NFL offseason for the New Orleans Saints was to get more playmakers for quarterback Tyler Shough to work with. Whether this be at wide receiver, tight end, or running back, it was clear the offense needed an influx of productivity both in the pass and run game, and adding Travis Etienne was a huge step in the right direction.

A question that could arise is whether or not the Saints want to add another option to the room, especially if Alvin Kamara were to retire in a hypothetical scenario. One of the names they have met with is Washington’s Jonah Coleman, a highly productive back who has explosiveness to spare.

Coleman did end up going to the combine, testing only in the bench press, but put up a whopping 22 reps, which for a 5-foot-8, 220-pound running back is extremely impressive. Ever since joining Washington, he has had plenty of opportunities on offense, and with them, posted 2,342 scrimmage yards in only two seasons.

2024 was his most productive year overall, accruing 193 rushes for 1,053 yards and 10 touchdowns, along with 23 receptions for 177 yards. 2025 was more well-balanced, though, as he put up 156 rushes for 758 yards and 15 touchdowns, along with 31 receptions for 351 yards and 2 more touchdowns.

His versatility as both a true north and south rusher, but also a threat in the receiving game, makes him a really fascinating name to watch as the draft rolls around, as he could complement Etienne very well for the foreseeable future.
