The Kansas City Chiefs ended up missing the playoffs last season for the first time since the 2012 campaign last year. Unfortunately, they also saw superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes go down with a torn ACL late in the season.
Mahomes is hoping to return for Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season. However, there is no guarantee that he will be able to make that happen.
Regardless of whether or not he is back on the field by the season opener, Mahomes should be healthy early in the year.
After missing out on the playoffs last season, the Chiefs have had an aggressive approach to the NFL offseason. They have added pieces like running back Kenneth Walker III, safety Alohi Gilman, defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga, and re-signed both Travis Kelce and Tyquan Thornton.

Even after making those moves, Kansas City is likely still open for business. Adding another wide receiver for Mahomes to target could be a priority for the Chiefs.
Tyreek Hill has been consistently linked to a potential Kansas City return. While that could be a scenario to watch, there is another wideout that has now been connected as a potential alternative for the Chiefs to consider.
CBS Sports analyst John Breech has named Kansas City as one of the top potential landing spots for free agent wideout Odell Beckham Jr.
“If Andy Reid wants to add a veteran receiver to his roster, this would be his chance to do it,” Breech wrote. “The team could look to reunite with Tyreek Hill, but if Reid doesn’t want to go that route, then the Chiefs should definitely look at Beckham.”
Beckham is fresh off of making waves at the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. He looked to be in game shape and could land a new NFL opportunity because of that showing.
Whether or not the Chiefs actually have any level of interest in Beckham remains to be seen. If they are indeed looking to add more talent for Mahomes to work with, he could be a cheap option to take a flier on.
