The Bills have reportedly exercised Dalton Kincaid’s $8.1 million fifth-year option
The Buffalo Bills have been busy when it comes to their roster building this offseason. In an effort to make a Super Bowl run with Josh Allen as their quarterback, the Bills have been active in attempting to bolster their offense, and while that has led to several new faces arriving in town, the front office obviously wants to keep several of these guys in town.
One player the front office had to make a decision on this offseason was tight end Dalton Kincaid. While Kincaid still has at least one more year on his contract, Buffalo had to decide if it wanted to exercise his fifth-year option for the 2027 campaign. On Monday, it sounds like the team came to a final decision on Kincaid’s contract situation.

The #Bills have picked up the fifth-year option on TE Dalton Kincaid.
It’s worth $8.1M, fully guaranteed, for the 2027 season.
The Bills selected Kincaid with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, with the hope being he could be a key piece of the team’s passing attack. While he’s missed nine total games due to injury over the past two seasons, when Kincaid has managed to stay on the field, he’s been a fairly productive player for Buffalo.
Despite only suiting up in 12 games, Kincaid managed to earn the first Pro Bowl selection of his career in 2025 when he racked up 39 receptions for 571 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. While Allen loves to spread the ball around on offense, when he absolutely has to make a throw, Kincaid is one of the first guys he’s looking at.
While Kincaid does lose some production to the veteran Dawson Knox, they have teamed up to form one of the top tight end duos in the league. Kincaid is the future of the Bills’ tight end room, though, and with his contract situation needing to be addressed this offseason, the front office decided to exercise his $8.1 million fifth-year option for the 2027 campaign, ensuring he will be under team control for at least two more years.
“The Bills have picked up the fifth-year option on TE Dalton Kincaid,” Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reported in a post on X. “It’s worth $8.1M, fully guaranteed, for the 2027 season.”

There’s no doubt that making a decision on Kincaid’s fifth-year option is a big move for the Bills, but there’s still work to do here. If Buffalo wants to keep Kincaid in town past the 2027 campaign, it is going to have to come to terms with him on a new long-term contract, and even with this move, it could still technically begin negotiating that deal this offseason.
With his fifth-year option exercised, though, the front office has bought itself some time to figure out what it wants to do with Kincaid. It could wait to see how he fares in 2026 before making a decision on his long-term contract status, or it could address his situation again after the 2026 NFL Draft gets wrapped up. Regardless of what the outcome ends up being, this likely isn’t the last time we will hear about Kincaid this offseason.
