The Philadelphia Eagles have been one of the most active teams in the NFL rumor mill this offseason. Most of those rumors have had to do with the future of star wide receiver A.J. Brown.
Entering the 2026 NFL offseason, the expectation was that Brown would be traded. That hasn’t happened just yet. Howie Roseman has a high price tag for interested teams and he does not seem ready to drop that price at this point in time.
Anything could happen throughout the rest of the offseason. It’s still possible that the Eagles could choose to move on from their star wideout. Or, they could run it back for another year with him.
No one knows what is going to happen. But, Philadelphia has now received a blunt warning about the idea of trading Brown.
Philadelphia Eagles Slapped With Stern A.J. Brown Warning
While the rumors suggest that Brown is likely to be traded, former NFL quarterback and current analyst Tim Hasselbeck believes that trading him could be a mistake.
“Is this really the right thing for Philadelphia?” Hasselbeck questioned. “It’s hard to replace superstar wide receivers.”
Hasselbeck makes a great point. Talented wide receivers like Brown do not grow on trees. When a team is able to get one of them, finding a way to keep them around is usually the best decision for team success.
Even with Brown’s obvious frustration with the team, could there be a way for the two sides to work through their issues? That remains to be seen.
Trading A.J. Brown Would Be a Step Back for the Eagles’ Offense
Over the last four years with the Eagles, Brown has never recorded less than 1,000 receiving yards. He is coming off of his least productive season since joining the team.
During the 2025 campaign, Brown racked up 78 receptions for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 games played.
Whether or not Philadelphia will trade Brown or not remains to be seen. The rumors are not going to go anywhere. However, there are reasons to believe that keeping him would make the Eagles better than trading him.
It will be interesting to see what the rest of the offseason has in store for Philadelphia. Fans can take comfort in the fact that Howie Roseman is the team’s general manager. He usually doesn’t make moves that don’t benefit the team.
Expect to continue hearing rumors and updates about Brown’s future with the Eagles. Hasselbeck’s warning is clear and is something the team should seriously consider.
