PHOENIX — Jordan Addison has long been viewed as a foundational piece for the Minnesota Vikings.
Now there’s evidence from the NFL owners meetings to support their commitment to him.
Speaking to reporters Monday in Arizona, acting general manager Rob Brzezinski confirmed the Vikings plan to exercise the fifth-year option for Addison, which effectively ties the polarizing 24-year-old receiver to the franchise through the 2027 season.
Though it’s not a surprising decision given Addison’s production on the field, the move didn’t feel like a certainty because of his off-field issues.
Originally selected by the Vikings in the first round of the 2023 draft, Addison has recorded 175 receptions for 2,396 yards and 22 touchdowns across 46 games in his career. He has also been arrested on multiple occasions, most recently on January 12 at a casino in Tampa, Florida. The charges for misdemeanor trespassing were later dismissed.
The other transgressions for Addison include being pulled over on Interstate 94 in St. Paul in July 2023 for driving 140 mph and getting arrested near Los Angeles International Airport in July 2024 after being found asleep at the wheel while blocking traffic.
