The health and future of left tackle Broderick Jones have been a concern for the Pittsburgh Steelers. But fortunately for the Black and Gold, there appear to be some recent positive developments.
Steelers GM Omar Khan told Arizona media at the NFL Owners meetings Monday that Jones’ rehab is progressing. He suffered a neck injury in Week 12 against the Chicago Bears, ending his season and requiring surgery.
“He’s starting to do more and more. I’ve talked to him a couple times over the last couple weeks, and he’s in a good place and ready to work hard and do whatever he can to be ready to go,” Khan said of Jones, according to a tweet from the Tribune Review’s Chris Adamski.

Just weeks ago at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine, Khan said he was a bit concerned about Jones’ outlook. Khan stated that Jones’ 2026 prognosis was a “good question” and his health was something the franchise was monitoring ahead of deciding on his fifth-year option.
With Jones out of the lineup late in the season, Dylan Cook stepped up and played some solid football down the stretch. However, in the AFC Wild Card blowout loss against the Houston Texans, Cook struggled in pass protection against Houston’s dominant front.
This offseason, left tackle has been a point of contention, especially with new offensive line coaches James Campen and Jahri Evans. With Jones’ uncertain health and status, and Cook being relatively inexperienced and raw, left tackle is a potential need.
The Steelers didn’t sign a veteran. Instead, they cut Calvin Anderson, which has led to analysts projecting a tackle as a potential first-round pick.
We’ll see what transpires at tackle over the next month or so. But Khan’s answer on Monday regarding Jones is some positive news this offseason.
