Jets head coach Aaron Glenn spoke to the media on Tuesday at the NFL league meeting. Glenn set big expectations for Geno Smith’s second stint with the Jets.

Of course any coach is going to say positive things about the quarterback his team just acquired. The Jets were aggressive in going after Smith this offseason, executing a trade and giving him a small salary bump rather than wait for his expected release from the Raiders. It seems clear that the Jets legitimately are expecting Smith to be a genuine answer at the most important position on the field.

Glenn also named his breakout player.

Taylor was a second round pick out of LSU in 2025. His rookie season was relatively quiet with only 44 catches for 369 yards, and a single touchdown. Taylor was a bit of a work in progress, however, when the Jets picked him. It always seemed to me like things were geared at year two.

Time will tell whether Glenn’s predictions for these two players come true.
