As confirmed weeks ago, the Los Angeles Rams are no longer speaking with the Philadelphia Eagles about a possible trade for A.J. Brown. As with so many others, however, they find themselves drawn into a conversation about him. Speaking on Pro Football Talk Live, Rams general manager Les Snead confirmed that Los Angeles did, in fact, engage in conversations about a potential deal involving Brown. Those talks, however, never progressed beyond the exploratory stage. Pro Football Talk’s Michael David Smith transcribed Snead’s words from the annual.

“We chatted with Philly, nothing worked out. There were talks, we had discussions, didn’t work out. That happens.”

And just like that, the Rams moved on.

That confirmation adds clarity to a situation that has been filled with speculation. While teams like the New England Patriots have also been linked to Brown throughout the offseason, Los Angeles now joins that list as a team that checked in but ultimately backed away. The reasons for doing so can vary. Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio noted that the Rams were “scared off” by “preliminary medical research” on Brown and believed the investment would’ve been too much. Trade compensation, financial implications, or internal evaluations often shape these decisions. What’s clear is that whatever the Rams were willing to offer, or accept, never aligned with Philadelphia’s stance.

That stance has remained consistent. Perhaps Snead and Los Angeles have grown past their ‘(Bleep) them picks’ theory. Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has repeatedly emphasized that Brown is still part of the roster. One day later, Patriots executive Eliot Wolf echoed that. The rest of us are left to engage in hypotheticals. It’s a familiar approach, one designed to quiet the noise without fully closing the door on possibilities. Many have drawn the same conclusion. The list of suitors appears to be shrinking.

The focus shifts back to Philadelphia and the handful of conversations still loosely connected to the situation. Whether anything materializes remains to be seen. For now, though, one thing is certain. Many windows that once existed appear to be closing.
