In what some might consider a “weak” draft class, Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love has emerged as some experts’ top overall prospect. Cue a familiar conversation on the positional value of the running back. For those arguing that the Giants only recently moved on from a top back, general manager Joe Schoen pointed out how much has changed.
“This year’s draft, we talked a little bit about the surplus value, and some of the better players in the draft may not typically be in the highest-paid positions outside of that, so you’re at the mercy of what’s available,” Schoen said. “Where we are right now is a different place than the Saquon situation. Again, we got a young quarterback, we have a number one receiver, we got (right tackle) Jermaine Eluemunor, the offensive line is stronger. So we’re going to take the best player available, regardless of position, that will help the New York Giants.”

New York Giants. Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr. could be a solid two-man ground attack, but Love could raise the ceiling of the New York offense.

In his 2024 rookie season, Tracy fumbled five times. He fumbled only once in the previous term. Still, one has to wonder whether the new coaching staff trusts him to handle a sizeable workload on the ground. Remember, he’s a converted receiver who’s played the position for just a few years. Love didn’t fumble in three terms at Notre Dame. Last year, Skattebo flashed his receiving ability. Yet to preserve him, the Giants can feature Love on obvious passing downs, which could make Tracy a trade candidate.
Giants head coach John Harbaugh had star running back Derrick Henry in Baltimore. Love is a different type of tailback. That said, he could also be an elite pro talent.

No. 5 Giants: Arvell Reese EDGE, Ohio St. I’ve said this before, but if the draft were the week after the Super Bowl, we wouldn’t have months to create narratives that run counter to what our collective eyeballs told us in the fall. For Reese, it’s pretty simple: he’s a rare athlete who was one of the best defenders in the country in 2025. That his pro-day bag-drill workout didn’t meet expectations shouldn’t really carry much weight. He’s a freak who is the “positionless player” prototype.

Rehabbing Malik Nabers plans to join Giants for upcoming workouts | New York Post
The Giants open up their offseason workouts April 7 and wide receiver Malik Nabers, rehabbing from ACL surgery, has told the team he plans on attending the start of the voluntary program. Nabers has been working out in Miami. When the Giants front office and scouting contingent last week was at the University of Miami’s pro day, assistant general manager Brandon Brown took the opportunity to have dinner with Nabers.

The feeling is Nabers will be ready to resume normal football activities well in advance of the start of the regular season. “It’s going to be great to see him next week,’’ general manager Joe Schoen said Monday from the NFL Annual League Meeting. “See him, let our doctors get our hands on him.’’

Beckham has seemed more willing than the Giants to date. New York re-signed veteran wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins and added Darnell Mooney and Calvin Austin III in free agency over the past month. Giants general manager Joe Schoen said Beckham’s name has been on their list of available free agents.
“If we find a player that’s gonna help us, that makes sense for the organization, we’ll continue to pursue,” Schoen said. “So, he’s on there, if it makes sense. I know (Harbaugh) talked about it a little bit earlier. We’ll never not pursue someone that can help.”
