After reports surfaced early in the day that the Detroit Lions were signing veteran LB Zach Cunningham, the Lions made it official. Detroit signed the 30-year-old Cunningham on Tuesday as the week of OTAs kicked off.
Terms of Cunningham’s deal are not yet public. Cunningham played the 2024 season in Denver, appearing in seven games. The 2017 second-round pick of the Houston Texans has also played for Tennessee and Philadelphia since leaving Houston for the Titans late in the 2021 season.
To make room for Cunningham on the 90-man roster, the Lions waived linebacker Abraham Beauplan. Signed earlier this offseason after spending most of the 2024 season on Detroit’s practice squad, Beauplan appeared in three games for Detroit and appeared exclusively on special teams. He is subject to waiver claims.
