Head coach Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburgh Steelers

After a historic 19-year run with the Pittsburgh Steelers, former head coach Mike Tomlin stepped down from the organization this offseason. Tomlin is one of eight NFL head coaches all-time to have at least 200 combined wins, including playoffs, and at least one Super Bowl ring.

Despite being without a team, he may not be without a job for much longer. According to Front Office Sports’ Brian McCarthy, multiple television networks and streaming services are set to pitch Tomlin on working for them this upcoming NFL season. McCarthy mentioned that NBC is the “clear favorite” to sign him, with other notable networks such as Fox, ESPN, CBS, NFL Network, Amazon Prime Video, and Netflix also showing interest.

Mike Tomlin Had an All-Time Run With the Pittsburgh SteelersMike Tomlin

GettyMike Tomlin never had a losing record in any of his 19 seasons with the Steelers.

Tomlin’s run in the Steel City was unlike anything the organization and league had ever seen. From 2007 to 2025, Tomlin never had a team that failed to post a .500-or-better regular-season record. That 19-year streak is an NFL record. He took his teams to the playoffs 13 times, won eight division titles, made three AFC Championship game appearances, along with multiple Super Bowls. Of course, Pittsburgh was able to bring home Super Bowl XLIII after defeating the Arizona Cardinals.

On both sides of the football and at many positions, Tomlin coached Hall of Fame players and true legends of the game in multiple eras. He started his tenure in Pittsburgh coaching future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and ended his tenure by coaching another future Hall of Fame quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

But all great things must come to an end, and it is no different for Tomlin. After not being able to secure a playoff win in almost a decade, he felt it was time to step away from the Steelers. This made way for the organization to hire another Super Bowl-winning head coach in Mike McCarthy.

Mike Tomlin Would Be Great on TVTomlin.

If Tomlin were to make the move to being an analyst on one of the aforementioned television networks or streaming services, he would be fantastic. Few NFL head coaches possess the fire and energy that Tomlin showed off every single day while he was at the helm in Pittsburgh. Plus, when you consider his career resume, he has accomplished everything that there is to accomplish for an NFL head coach. He is the perfect candidate to truly flourish as an NFL analyst.

All NFL fans likely would get enjoyment out of seeing Tomlin on their screens every Sunday afternoon or Sunday night as the league prepares for the biggest games. Perhaps also, remember that legendary NFL head coach Bill Belichick was a correspondent on The Pat McAfee Show, as well as Monday Night Football, during his time off before he went to coach North Carolina. Could fans see a similar type of move from Tomlin?
