This Bears trade pitch would see them acquire Jalen Carter from the Eagles
The Chicago Bears have endured a bit of a tough start to the offseason, as they have lost several key members of their breakout 2025 squad. Still, the future is looking bright for the Bears, and it seems likely that they will remain a playoff contender in the loaded NFC North division for years to come.
In order to stay ahead of teams like the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers, though, Chicago needs to ensure it has as much talent as possible on its roster. One area where the Bears could use some help is at defensive tackle, so let’s take a look at a blockbuster trade pitch that would see the team acquire Jalen Carter from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bears’ Jalen Carter Trade Pitch
Bears receive: DT Jalen Carter
Eagles receive: 2026 first-round pick (No. 25) and 2026 fourth-round pick (No. 129)
The Eagles selected Carter in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has promptly turned himself into one of the brightest young interior defensive linemen in the league. Carter enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2024, as he racked up 42 tackles, 4.5 sacks, six pass breakups, and two forced fumbles, which helped him earn a Pro Bowl selection and a spot on the All-Pro Second Team.
Carter missed six games in 2025, but he still managed to earn the second Pro Bowl selection of his career. The problem is that Carter is going to be due for a massive contract extension soon, and it’s a contract that the Eagles may not be interested in paying. It is worth noting that the team already extended fellow defensive tackle Jordan Davis to a three-year, $78 million contract this offseason, which will make it tougher to justify handing Carter a new deal.
If there’s a team that could use help at defensive tackle, it’s the Bears. After passing up on Carter in the 2023 draft, they could swing a move for him this offseason before the 2026 NFL Draft gets underway. A first and fourth round pick is a steep price to pay, but Carter is only entering his age-25 season, and there’s good reason to believe that he could be a pillar of the team’s defense for years to come.

Given the Bears’ need for a defensive tackle, it’s pretty safe to say that they would be interested in Carter. A three-down player who can rush the quarterback and clog running lanes, Carter is one of the premier defensive tackles in the league. Sure, he’s going to need a big new contract soon, but that’s a deal that Chicago can afford to give him.
Whether or not the Eagles are actually interested in trading Carter, though, remains to be seen. Yes, they just extended Davis, and they are facing a salary cap crunch this offseason, but giving away talented players isn’t something that general manager Howie Roseman appears to be too interested in doing. Carter is a trade target worth keeping tabs on, but it feels unlikely that Philly will be looking to part ways with him when he still has two years left on his rookie contract.
