The more things change, the more they stay the same in the NFL—especially at one particular position for the Carolina Panthers.

For the last 17 seasons and 277 games, JJ Jansen has served as the franchise’s long snapper. Along the way, the beloved veteran has seen everything—from Panthers teams that went all the way, to the Super Bowl to Panthers teams that only managed to win two games in a season.

And although he’s still one of the very best at his job, the 40-year-old can’t stick around forever. So, he may already be ramping up for his next career move.

The schedule for the IFL this year is already up and running. Their season will culminate with their National Championship game on Aug. 16.

Jansen re-upped with the Panthers earlier this offseason on a one-year, $1.4 million deal.
