Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris created some excitement earlier this week at the NFL’s annual league meetings when he said the franchise had a bunch of things up its sleeve regarding the new uniforms to be revealed on April 15.

“The priority is honoring our past and then looking to the future, right? Updating, but not forgetting about our heritage, who we are, and honoring that. So we have a bunch of things up our sleeve. I don’t want to ruin the surprise.”

The uniforms shouldn’t be much of a secret at this point. We know Washington is going away with the primary uniforms it wore from 2022-25 after the disastrous rebranding. You can find those on the clearance racks at your local retailers. The alternates the Commanders wore last season, the Super Bowl-era uniforms, will be the new primary ones. Additionally, Washington will debut a new burgundy jersey with white pants, which will also look very familiar to longtime Redskins’ fans.

The Commanders could also debut a new alternate.

So what’s up Washington’s sleeve?

General manager Adam Peters was a guest on “Up & Adams” with Kay Adams this week. She tried to press Peters about the new uniforms, to which he initially acted as if he had no clue what she was talking about. However, Peters gently hinted about last season’s uniforms, noting the franchise’s history.

“We don’t know, do we?” Peters said, looking away from Adams with a smile. “It would be really cool if they did that. I loved, like, when we did the throwbacks last year. How cool those were. How much the fans loved those. So, any more leaning into our history would be really cool, but I am not going to be the one to drop any (news).”

More “leaning into our history” tells you everything you need to know.

The name is not changing, Harris confirmed that again on Monday. But that doesn’t mean Washington isn’t listening to its fans about changing the look. Harris and Peters have created excitement for the April 15 reveal. While everyone has an idea of what the uniforms will look like, there’s some mystery regarding the helmets.
