WXII 12 News is exclusively the new home of the Carolina Panthers and will air preseason games and special Panthers’ programming over the next three seasons as part of a new agreement.The new agreement between the Carolina Panthers and Hearst Television, parent of WXII-TV and WCWG-TV, the NBC and CW affiliates serving Winston-Salem/Greensboro/High Point, brings a planned three preseason games airing on WXII 12 News for each of the 2026-2027, 2027-2028, and 2028-2029 seasons. As the Panthers “Keep Pounding” each season, so does the team’s bright future. “It’s an exciting time to be able to bring the Panthers to our viewers,” said Michelle Butt, president and general manager of WXII and WCWG. “This team’s future is bright, with a talented coach and GM and a young roster poised to win in the NFC South for years to come. And it’s an excellent fit for us as an NBC affiliate, given the network’s commitment to live sports. We look forward to joining fellow Panthers fans as we encourage our favorite NFL team to keep pounding.” The Panthers’ action will continue as WXII and WCWG will carry 20 episodes each full season of the team’s Panthers Huddle weekly half-hour coach’s show. Both stations will also air six locally produced half-hour specials each season. “We are extremely pleased to be forging this new broadcasting partnership with WXII and WCWG. The strong community standing of both stations, and their emphasis on news and sports respectively, should provide exceptional viewing opportunities for fans of the Panthers and the NFL across the Triad,” Eric Fiddleman, the Panthers Affiliate Manager for Radio and Television, said. The Panthers will open the 2026 NFL preseason against the Arizona Cardinals in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Canton, Ohio. The game will air on the NBC network. The three subsequent 2026 preseason games will air exclusively on WXII 12 News and that schedule will be announced later this spring.
