It is being reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could shockingly leave Raymond James Stadium.

They have been based at the 69,218-capacity venue since 1998.

Buccaneers could temporarily move to Orlando

A report from the Sports Business Journal claims that the Buccaneers will “meet with the Tampa Sports Authority next week.”

These renovations are expected to cost around $1 billion.

The Buccaneers must decide whether to extend their lease at Raymond James Stadium for another five years by the end of January 2027.

Owners the Glazer family previously invested more than $160 million in renovations between 2016 and 2018.

Now the Buccaneers appear set to make a temporary move 80 miles east to Orlando, Florida.

This move will facilitate Raymond James Stadium’s major overhaul.

Orlando’s Camping World Stadium is thought to be the leading contender to host the team’s home games.

Jaguars are already set to play in Orlando

The Buccaneers could become the second NFL team to base itself at the 90-year-old 60,219-capacity venue.

Floridian rivals the Jacksonville Jaguars are also set to play at Camping World Stadium during their own renovations at EverBank Stadium.

This move has since been confirmed with the Jaguars briefly relocating for the 2027 NFL season.

Camping World Stadium is currently undergoing a $400 million makeover of its own ahead of the NFL’s arrival at the venue.

Stadium renovations in Tampa

The planned renovations at Raymond James Stadium follow the urgent repairs at the nearby Tropicana Field.

A $55 million repair job has taken place at the Tampa Bay Rays‘ Tropicana Field following damage caused by Hurricane Milton in 2024.

The Rays were then forced to play their 2025 MLB home games at the New York Yankees‘ spring training base at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

It is hoped that the renovations at Raymond James Stadium could encourage it to host the Super Bowl or College Football Playoff final.
