While most of the NFL world, including the Tennessee Titans, is busy preparing for the NFL draft, which kicks off in less than three weeks in Pittsburgh, sports card collectors got some big news.
On Friday, Topps trading cards unveiled their two cover athletes for the upcoming 2025 Topps Chrome Football card set, and the Titans’ second-year quarterback Cam Ward will be joining New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye as the cover athletes for the series. This is a significant milestone for both Ward and Maye, marking the first time these two young signal callers have been selected as cover athletes, something that in the card hobby ranks alongside being on Madden in the gaming community.
The 2025 Topps Chrome Football cards are set to hit retail outlets on April 15, and Titans fans should be on the hunt for Ward’s rare chase card, the 1/1 Rookie PREM1ERE Patch Autograph card featuring the gameworn patch from his debut in September 2025. This will definitely be one of the hardest to find in the set.
Both Ward and Maye took part in the Topps NOW Cards option, a print-on-demand trading card service that captured significant sports and pop-culture moments within 24-48 hours of their occurrence, and both were popular draws.
This is an exciting moment for both Ward and Maye, and card collectors and fans will surely be on the lookout for this set. But somewhere deep inside, they will also be hoping this honor doesn’t come with the same results as the Madden cover curse.
