According to Zach Berman of The Athletic, QB Jalen Hurts wants to build more equity in the Philadelphia Eagles‘ offense.
This is relevant with Hurts under scrutiny this week, including in an ESPN article highlighting Hurts as a focus of problems with the Eagles’ offense last season.

“Some additional context I can offer about Hurts is that he’s wanted to build more equity in the offense,” Berman wrote. “He knows that the play-calling duties have been a revolving door in his career.”
In a story called “Inside Eagles’ 2025 friction as Jalen Hurts stands at crossroads,” Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler of ESPN interviewed more than a dozen sources to pull back the curtain on what’s ailing an Eagles offense full of notable talent and Hurts was ripped several times.
“Poor body language, not always bought in, not the most coachable and the players notice,” a team source said.
The Eagles won Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs. Hurts was named MVP after putting up 221 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 72 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.

Hurts finished the 2025 season with 3,224 passing yards, 25 passing touchdowns, 421 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. He completed 64.8% of his passes.
The Eagles won the NFC East again. However, they lost to the San Francisco 49ers in the 2026 playoffs’ wild-card round.
The Eagles signed Hurts to a five-year, $255 million extension in April 2023. There is little guaranteed money left in Hurts’ deal after the 2026 season.
Hurts will be coached by Sean Mannion next season. Philadelphia hired the Green Bay Packers QB coach as its new OC after parting ways with Kevin Patullo.
There is a scenario where the Eagles part ways with Hurts if he doesn’t play well next season. Hurts has three seasons remaining on his five-year, $255-million contract, although 2026 is the final year in which his salary is fully guaranteed. There’s been no indication that the Eagles plan to rework the deal this offseason.
