The New Orleans Saints missed the playoffs in 2025, but the team did start to play much more sound football down the stretch of the year. The team finished 6-11 overall, but there are reasons for optimism heading into this current NFL offseason.

For the Saints, they did find the potential franchise guy at the quarterback position as rookie Tyler Shough broke out. In 11 games (nine starts), Shough threw for 2,384 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Shough will need to cut down on the turnovers this coming season, but as a rookie, his numbers were very impressive. The signal-caller also did this with a lackluster group of offensive weapons, which is an area that New Orleans will need to address the rest of the offseason.

After trading away Rashid Shaheed at the deadline last year, the Saints are in need of more offensive weapons. The team does have wideout Chris Olave, and he did form a nice bond with Shough in the limited time together.

But if this team wants to take the next step forward, in terms of overall contention, adding more offensive firepower will be needed. This could see the Saints’ front office go look to make a trade, or potentially even sign someone in free agency, giving team an established presence, rather than a rookie from the upcoming NFL Draft.

TWSN Quick Facts:

Team: New Orleans Saints
Rumored Player: Keon Coleman
Position: Wide receiver

Keon Coleman to the Saints?

One option for the Saints could be to target wide receiver Keon Coleman of the Buffalo Bills in a trade. Coleman has been placed in trade rumors since the Bills season ended, and after the owner of the team made some interesting comments about him.

“I’ll address the Keon situation,” Pegula said, after a question about Coleman was directed at Beane. “The coaching staff pushed to draft Keon. I’m not saying Brandon wouldn’t have drafted him, but (Coleman) wasn’t his next choice. It was Brandon being a team player and taking advice from his coaching staff, who felt strongly about the player.

What Keon Coleman Could Bring to Saints

If the Saints could add more dynamic playmakers to the table, it could open the field for Shough, and Coleman could fit the bill. Coleman has size, and he would be a strong partner on field with Olave.

Coming out of college, there was a lot of excitement around Coleman, but through his first few tears with Buffalo, he hasn’t lived up to the hype. This could see the team move on from him, and the Saints may be the best landing spot.

If anything could maximize the skill set of Coleman in the league, it’s Saints head coach Kellen Moore, who has been known to be an offensive genius. Moore could put Coleman into different spots, and he would give this team another weapon for Shough to throw the ball too.

Coleman is still 22 years old and would be a worthwhile pickup for the Saints, especially due to his overall upside. This could be the perfect buy-low move for New Orleans to consider, and it may pay off extremely well for this team going forward.

Keon Coleman 2025 Stats

Coleman only played in 13 games in 2025 for the Bills, catching 38 passes for 404 yards and four touchdowns. The wideout would be well served to go elsewhere to see if he could reach his potential in the NFL.
