The Seattle Seahawks hosted free-agent cornerback Rasul Douglas on a visit earlier this offseason. General manager John Schneider has shown consistent interest in adding more depth to the cornerback room. The expectation is that a player of Douglas’ caliber will eventually sign a contract with the Seahawks.

Douglas is coming off a down year with the Buffalo Bills in 2024 after suffering a non-contact knee injury in 2023. Douglas posted an overall defensive grade of 59.2, and a coverage grade of 58.9 last season, according to Pro Football Focus. He was credited with allowing 40 receptions and a passer rating of 123.7.

One year fully removed from the injury setback, Douglas qualifies as a potential bounce-back candidate in 2025. Though his advancing age plays a role, Douglas played stellar football from 2021 to 2023. PFF recently highlighted him as a bounce-back player.

“Douglas is somewhat of an outlier on this list, as he is currently without a team,” Zoltán Buday wrote. “However, it’s widely expected he will sign before the season begins. His underwhelming 2024 campaign may help explain why he remains unsigned. Douglas posted a 53.9 PFF overall grade, 102nd out of 116 qualifying cornerbacks, and his 51.6 coverage grade ranked 103rd. Despite his disappointing 2024 season, Douglas’ recent track record and the fact that he turns just 30 at the start of the season make him a strong bounce-back candidate for any team needing veteran cornerback help.”

Seattle continues to be Douglas’ most likely destination. The veteran cornerback would provide quality depth behind Riq Woolen, Devon Witherspoon, and Josh Jobe. The Seahawks should strongly consider making Douglas an offer.
