SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – One local college football player is gearing up to go to an NFL rookie mini-camp.
American International College’s (AIC) Sidiki Kone started playing football when he was nine years old, and just like many other young football players, playing in the NFL is a dream. Now with an invite from the Baltimore Ravens to attend rookie mini-camp, that dream is closer to reality.

Kone is a running back for the AIC Yellowjackets, posting impressive stats and, for the past three seasons, leading the team in rushing touchdowns. He told 22News that the opportunity to continue playing football is a blessing.
“Just mentally preparing, praying, making sure I am hydrated, stretched,” Kone said. “I did all of the work, so now it’s just putting it into play. Coming from a Division II, got to continue to work on craft, and got to constantly prove ourselves. So just continue being resilient and try to persevere.”
AIC head coach Dan Chipka said that Kone is special on and off the field, and he could not be more proud. Kone is wrapping up all of his finals before he leaves on Friday for the three-day mini-camp.
Kone will unfortunately miss AIC’s graduation this coming Sunday, but now he gets a chance to follow his dream.
