The Jalen Hurts saga with the Philadelphia Eagles is continuing to develop. After the report from Jeremy Fowler on the behind-the-scenes tension between the two sides it seems as though things are heading beyond repair.

If Hurts struggles again this season, the Eagles could be looking for a new quarterback. Yet, Howie Roseman is great at reading situations and moving on from players before it even reaches the point where changes are made during the season.

With that, Philadelphia could be open to trading Hurts for the right price this offseason if the opportunity presents itself. A team that could end up looking to trade for Hurts is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

TWSN Key Facts

Why the Philadelphia Eagles Could Look to Trade Jalen Hurts

From Fowler’s report, Hurts has tried taking over the offense and making his own calls, which played a part in the offense lacking the ability to get into a rhythm last season. It was also reported that in team meetings, Hurts would seem disengaged. After this report surfaced, it was also reported that the Eagles won’t be extending his contract until his play improves.

Sources within the Eagles organization believes Jalen Hurts is “not the most coachable” player, per @JFowlerESPN

As stated by Jeff McLane, “They want him to know that there’s a reason why they’re not extending his contract. He knows it’s the last year of his guaranteed contract. He knows the cat is out of the bag on some of his baggage. He knows he has to produce. You can’t be near the bottom of the league in passing two years in a row with the amount of talent that we have. It’s unacceptable.”

With that, it could cause the tensions to escalate further between the two sides to the point where a trade is the only outcome this offseason.

Why the Pittsburgh Steelers Should Trade for Jalen Hurts

Despite the ongoing issues, the Steelers should still look to trade for Hurts if he becomes available. They currently are banking on Aaron Rodgers not retiring as their quarterback solution for 2026. They also have Will Howard, who new head coach Mike McCarthy has spoke highly of, but he hasn’t taken a snap in the NFL yet.

The Steelers have high expectations to turn things back around and be a team that makes a deep playoff run. While Howard showed flashes in college, the best route for Pittsburgh to go would be to land a proven NFL quarterback who can lead the offense.

Hurts would provide them with their best option. The best-case scenario would be that al he needs is a change of scenery to fully get back on track and grow as a leader. His dual-threat ability would bring a style that the Steelers have been missing under center.

Between his experience having won a Super Bowl recently, as well as having shown his skills, Jalen Hurts would be the ideal quarterback for the Steelers to add and build around for the future.
