Thus far, the biggest offseason changes around the NFC South have come from the Atlanta Falcons. The “Dirty Birds” have attempted to clean up—bringing in new leadership, remaking their front office and reshaping their quarterback room.
But all that change doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re getting better.

Carolina Panthers second-year outside linebacker Princely Umanmielen took to Twitter/X on Tuesday to poke a bit of fun at Atlanta’s social media squad—which was celebrating all the big changes. Here’s what he shared . . .

To recap, Kevin Stefanski has replaced Raheem Morris as Atlanta’s head coach and Ian Cunningham is now their general manager. However, former Falcons MVP quarterback Matt Ryan is also involved as “President of Football Operations.”
Exactly who’s in charge is up for debate. The league office doesn’t seem to think it’s Cunningham, otherwise the Chicago Bears would have gotten a couple of compensatory draft picks for his departure and promotion.

In any case, the Falcons’ moves have left observers underwhelmed. The Athletic recently reported that most NFL executives are confused by Atlanta’s approach.
It would make sense if Ryan is calling the shots, as the Falcons have re-signed two of his former teammates in wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus and tight end Austin Hooper—neither of whom are going to move the needle.
Overall, Atlanta’s roster doesn’t appear to be any better now than it was at the end of last season.
