If the Buffalo Bills were ever to win a Super Bowl, it would no doubt be the biggest story in the sports world in that given year — such is the pursuit of a title for a franchise that once set an NFL record with 4 consecutive losses in the Super Bowl.

Now pushing up on almost a decade as legitimate AFC contenders thanks to the brilliance of NFL MVP quarterback Josh Allen, there is now some question as to if the Bills can ever grab the brass ring, so to speak.

This offseason has done little to assuage those doubts, and Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay put the Bills on blast for a move they didn’t make this offseason — or just haven’t to this point — in trying to find a way to get Dallas Cowboys NFL All-Pro wide receiver George Pickens on their roster.

Kay put Pickens at the top of his list of deals he wished would have been made this offseason — hoping Pickens would receive a 4-year, $129 million contract from the Bills instead of the 1-year, $27.3 million contract he was offered from the Cowboys after he was hit with a dreaded franchise tag.

“Buffalo’s biggest transaction was a trade for D.J. Moore — a talented but inconsistent receiver who regressed in each of the last two years following a stellar first season with the Chicago Bears — but it remains to be seen if the pass-catcher coming off a 682-receiving yard campaign can move the needle like Pickens could have,” Kay wrote on Wednesday.

Bills Could Still Make Major Move for George Pickens

There’s still some faint hope the Bills — or someone else — might pull off a trade for Pickens on the 1st day of the NFL draft in a scenario that likely swaps him for a 1st round pick.

While most of the focus on the Cowboys has been on who they will pick with their pair of 1st-round picks at No. 12 and No. 20, or whether they will swap either one or both of those picks, another option might be to trade Pickens.

If the Cowboys find a team willing to give up a 1st round pick for Pickens, that would not only allow the Cowboys to move up and take either edge rusher Arvell Reese or edge rusher David Bailey and keep 1 of their 1st round picks, it could happen.

Then, depending on how things shake out, the Cowboys could pick a wide receiver in the 1st round.

Draft Day Trade Prediction Could ‘Rock’ NFL

Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox predicts the Cowboys could “Rock” the 1st day of the NFL draft by dealing Pickens — maybe even as the 1st round progresses.

“Dallas locked up Pickens early in the offseason with the franchise tag and is widely expected to address its 30th-ranked defense early in the draft,” Knox wrote. “However, the Cowboys haven’t ruled out taking an offensive difference-maker with the 12th or 20th overall selections. The Cowboys might be even more eager to land an offensive playmaker if they decided to trade Pickens during the draft’s opening night. While keeping him long-term makes plenty of sense in a vacuum, paying Pickens a market rate alongside CeeDee Lamb could be problematic.”
