Heading into the 2026 NFL Draft, the biggest question for the Miami Dolphins is how they’ll strengthen the pass-catching group for incoming quarterback Malik Willis. During the offseason, the team parted ways with Tyreek Hill and traded Jaylen Waddle.

That has raised concerns that Willis could be at a disadvantage, given the current pass-catching options and the departures of two key receivers. Although the Dolphins can add via the draft, the players will still be rookies.

As a result, could Miami go the trade route and reunite Willis with a former teammate from the Green Bay Packers? FOX Sports’ Ralph Vacchiano urged the Dolphins to pursue Packers tight end Luke Musgrave. As part of his trade idea, Vacchiano proposed that Miami send a 2026 fifth-round pick (151st) for Musgrave.

“First, the Dolphins should be in fire sale mode, getting rid of every valuable asset they have for draft picks,” Vacchiano wrote in his April 8 article. “But while they’re doing that, they can’t leave new QB Malik Willis without help on offense, especially if they’re trying to see if he can be their quarterback of the future. So it makes sense to bring at least one familiar weapon from Green Bay with him.

“Musgrave didn’t exactly light it up for the Pack after Tucker Kraft tore his ACL last year, but he’s still a 6-foot-6 target with good receiving skills who has been battered by injuries in the first three years of his career. There’s an upside and the cost could be low, since Kraft is coming back to the Pack.”

Malik Willis Gets Good News From Dolphins HC

Amid concerns over Miami’s pass-catching options, Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley shared good news for Willis, noting that the team intends to bolster the wide receiver group to ensure their new QB has the weapons needed to succeed in the 2026 NFL season.

“He’s going to throw the ball to some good players,” Hafley told Kay Adams on the March 30 edition of “Up & Adams.” “We’ve got, we’ve got a bunch of good guys coming back, a bunch of guys that we signed, and we’ve got a lot of draft picks, a lot of them.

“We’ve got seven in the first 100 picks. We’ll have receivers for Malik to throw to. The next time you talk after the draft and as we get the players here, I think you’re going to see we’ll get some good ones for him to throw to.”

Miami Lands Blunt Take on De’Von Achane’s Future

Meanwhile, the Dolphins are in a challenging situation with De’Von Achane, who is eligible for a contract extension, and there’s uncertainty around his future. Achane is the only proven weapon that Miami has, and WQAM’s Channing Crowder gave a blunt take regarding the running back’s situation and whether he’ll be staying with the Dolphins.

“[Achane] will not touch the field in Miami Gardens until he has more money in his bank account,“ Crowder said in an April 8 video from WQAM. “This is his hit. This is the time he has to hit somebody in the head. He’s a poker player. [Achane can] go out there at OTAs and tear [his] knee up.

“Now y’all take [his] money down to $5 million a year, and not $20 million a year? No, he’s not coming without a contract. I’ve been saying that the entire offseason.”
