NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The 10th annual Rally on the Runway event brought together the community to support children fighting cancer.
Tennessee Titans Jeffrey Simmons, an honorary chair member, escorted rally kids down the runway alongside other local celebrities. The evening also included an auction to help raise funds for childhood cancer research.
Simmons called the night one of the most meaningful of the year.
“It’s bigger than what we’re dealing with the game of football, bigger than anything that I can think of. Seeing these kids walk around with a smile on their face when they’re going through something extremely tough, I think that’s the most touching thing about it,” Simmons said.
Simmons brought along teammates, including running back Julius Chestnut.
“Seeing them smile, you know, they’re battling so hard just for something that they can’t control. You know, so for them to be able to just to walk down that stage and do whatever they want and feel free, you know, it just brings joy to my heart,” Chestnut said.
Other Titans players participated, including Cody Barton and Truman Jones. Former Titans Keith Bulluck and Blaine Bishop also attended.
Last year the event raised over half a million dollars.
