It’s one of the most memorable NFL postgame interviews of the last couple of decades — an all-out linguistic obliteration of a rival player.
Following the 2013 NFC Championship game, Richard Sherman, speaking to Erin Andrews, told the world, “When you try me with a sorry receiver like [Michael] Crabtree, that’s the result you’re going to get.”
Sherman followed that up by calling Crabtree “mediocre” in his postgame press conference shortly thereafter.
Thirteen years later, Sherman was asked by fans on his YouTube channel if he had any regrets about his description of Crabtree.
“No,” Sherman replied. “No, [I] can never regret saying the truth. The truth stands the test of time.”
While Sherman says he doesn’t presently have regrets, following the 2014 situation, the All-Pro cornerback did apologize for the negative attention his comments drew.
“I apologize for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates … That was not my intent,” Sherman reportedly said in a text message to ESPN’s Ed Werder.
Sherman and the Seattle Seahawks went on to win Super Bowl XLVIII that season, defeating the Denver Broncos 43-8 to earn their first title in the team’s history.
