The Miami Dolphins have a few contract situations that they want to try and settle before the start of their 2026 campaign, as a few players are entering the final year of their current deals.

At the top of that list is running back De’Von Achane, who might be the best player on Miami’s roster right now after totaling 4,334 offensive yards and 35 total touchdowns in his first three seasons.

New Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan seems to be a fan of Achane, even comparing him to a former three-time Pro Bowler and College Football Hall of Famer.

“I think he’s a rare player,” Sullivan said during an interview with “PFT Live” recently. “His feet, his acceleration, his ability to play on all three downs. He’s a very good pass catcher. He reminds me of a lot of a guy that I played with in high school by the name of Warrick Dunn, who went on to have a marvelous career.

“Maybe it’s the 28 that he wears on his back, which Warrick wore forever. But I see a lot of similarities. Now, Warrick did it for a decade, and neither one of them are big guys, and I think if De’Von was sitting here, he’d be the one to tell you, like I think that’s going to be the question for him. Can he be as durable as Warrick was over time? But he’s a marvelous player. We wanna move forward with him. It’s important to us to get a deal done. He’s part of the future for us.”

Dunn totaled 15,306 offensive yards and 64 total touchdowns with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Atlanta Falcons in 12 seasons. If Achane were to have that kind of sustained success in Miami, everyone would be thrilled.

While the Dolphins have had plenty of things on their plate this offseason, extending Achane should be a priority in the coming weeks and months.
