“I’m very excited, I couldn’t even sleep last night I was just so excited to get here,” superfan, Commander Mike said as he stood toward the front of the line. “I wanted to be first or second to get here, I’m waiting on that video.”

WUSA9 was the only station outside the stadium speaking directly with fans during the unveiling, capturing their immediate reactions as the designs were revealed.

“Taking them back,” one fan shouted while watching the video. “Back to the roots.”

“Yes,” another longtime fan screamed, “What?” she couldn’t hide her excitement. “That’s what I’m talking about.” The other fan beside her started clapping, “the heritage is back, I knew we was going to get the black ones.”

Season ticket holders were given an exclusive hour to shop and get their new gear and then all fans were allowed to stop by the team store.

“It’s clean. I love it,” one fan said while holding up his new jersey.

Others described the moment as more than just a uniform release, saying it added to a growing sense of momentum around the team.

“That’s what we want, that’s how you go back home,” one fan said.

“That is A plus,” another man said.

“They look hot,” Commander Mike shouted.

Many fans said the black jersey quickly stood out as their favorite, drawing praise for its bold, modern look while still tying into the team’s identity.

“I’m getting two at least,” one fan said.

“I really like the spear,” another fan in line added when explaining why he likes the Black jerseys.

The unveiling comes just weeks before the NFL Draft, and fans said the combination of new uniforms and offseason anticipation is fueling excitement for the upcoming season.

From longtime supporters to younger fans seeing their first major team event, the energy outside the stadium remained high throughout the day. Many said the experience of being there in person — surrounded by fellow fans and seeing the reveal unfold live — made it even more memorable.

As the Commanders prepare for the draft and the season ahead, fans say moments like this are helping build enthusiasm and optimism for what’s to come.
