DURAND, Ill. — A local high school student athlete is getting recognized by the Bears for his achievements on and off the field.

On Thursday, the Chicago Bears announced Durand High School senior Lukas Rossow as the seventh winner of the 2026 Community High School All-Star Award. The Bears announced the award in partnership with Athletico Physical Therapy.

The award is meant to recognize student-athletes who show leadership, character, and positively affect their communities outside of their sports. The Bears say Rossow shows a steady commitment to others while being a high-achieving student and athlete.

Rossow, nominated by his coaches at Du-Pec, was highlighted for his volunteer work. He is said to help out at a local food pantry, organizing and delivering meals directly to homes in the community.

In the classroom, Rossow is said to maintain a 4.06 GPA while balancing his sports responsibilities. He has earned an Academic All-State recognition from the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association. In the fall, he’ll attend the University of Missouri.

Rossow as quarterback led his team to a 7-4 record in 2025 and a playoff appearance. Du-Pec’s season ended when they lost to eventual state champion Byron.

In 2025, Rossow was invited to play in the 52nd Annual Illinois High School Shrine Game, an event that is said to bring together the best high school football players from the state while supporting a local children’s hospital through awareness and raising funds.

Besides football, Rossow plays golf and basketball. On the golf course, Rossow qualified for the IHSA Class 1A State Finals and was a top 20 finalist.

The Bears said Rossow’s success across multiple sports shows his versatility and dedication to improving his skills. The team said he sets an example as a student-athlete who addresses each part of his life with purpose.

As an All-Star Award winner, Rossow will be getting a custom hand-painted football, a swag bag, and an invitation to a future Chicago Bears event. The Bears will also donate $500 to a charity Rossow chooses.
