The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren’t just talking about leadership; they’re actively building around it, and this time, general manager Jason Licht actually put names behind that belief.

When discussing emerging leaders on the roster, Licht pointed to a mix of young players and established veterans, highlighting Tykee Smith and Calijah Kancey as part of the next wave, while also making sure not to overlook the presence of Vita Vea, who continues to lead in his own way despite being one of the longest-tenured players on the team.

What stands out is how wide that leadership net actually is. Licht also pointed to the entire offensive line as a group setting the tone, along with younger contributors like Bucky Irving stepping into bigger voices. On top of that, offseason additions like Alex Anzalone, Kenneth Gainwell, and Miles Killebrew were brought in with leadership in mind, not just production.

This isn’t a team relying on one or two vocal leaders to carry the locker room; it’s a roster built with layers of accountability, where leadership is expected at multiple positions and across different experience levels.

At this point, it’s clear what Tampa Bay is trying to create. This isn’t just about talent; it’s about building a team that can sustain itself, and when leadership is this spread out, that foundation tends to hold when the season starts to test it.
