Punter Thomas Morstead ended up being a casualty of the roster overhaul the New York Jets have undergone since the hiring of head coach Aaron Glenn.
Releasing Morstead also provided some salary cap relief.
But despite his status as a 39-year-old veteran, Morstead has a new home in the NFL.
Taking to his social media account on Twitter, Morstead announced he has signed with the San Francisco 49ers:
The San Francisco Chronicle has confirmed that Morstead is signing in San Francisco but terms of the deal have yet to be announced.
Morstead spent the past two seasons with the Jets. He has been in the NFL since 2009 when he was a fifth-round draft pick of the New Orleans Saints.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2025 offseason.
